The website was conceived by a group of like-minded residents in the Headstone area that have had enough of the constant over development of Harrow and the consequential loss of green spaces and access to essential facilities. This website, through the provision of information, aims to assist residents to prevent further overdevelopment in Harrow. This site also aims to keep residents of Harrow up to date on issues that affects their lives and environment. If you are aware of any issue, e.g.
• Planned developments
• Controlled Parking zones
• Street schemes
• Crime issue
Or any other issue that affects the lives of those that live in Harrow, then please let us know so we can share it on this website.
We also aim to promote local events in the area, so If you have an event you would like us to list then let us know.
You can use the form at the bottom of this webpage.
For discussions on issues please use the Facebook pages of the FreeHarrow group
These properties were built without a respectful level of consultation with the population of Harrow. Consequently, facilities like schools and medical provision are oversubscribed. The roads are becoming overloaded and the issue of parking from sites already developed is now over spilling into surrounding roads.
The targets for new housing in Harrow have already been exceeded and residents should not need to suffer any further loss in their quality of life.
The high-rise developments in the high streets and the old Kodak site have spoilt the very nature of Harrow.
Developers saw the previous council administration as a soft touch. The reality of the high-rise developments without adequate parking provision are now becoming evident.
The tower blocks are poor quality and the people that were supposed to not need a car as they could cycle and walk everywhere are now buying cars. The cars need to be parked so Controlled Parking Zones are spreading across harrow increasing costs for other Harrow residents and reducing their quality of life.
Developers are now turning to green spaces. The loss of green spaces for housing negatively affects the environment, losing the land's ability to capture new carbon. Wildlife and plant life already under stress, are displaced & loss of green spaces has a negative effect on communities. Harrow is no longer the green and pleasant borough it used to be, and we cannot spare any more green space for building housing.
Please sign the petition to send a message to the developers, the Mayor of London, and the Government that the people of Harrow have lost enough green space and are not prepared to lose any more.
This petition to Harrow Council urges them to send a message to all developers that Harrow’s green spaces are no longer available to be built on.
