We call upon Harrow Council to halt any further development on green spaces in Harrow.
Harrow Council has in recent years built more than its fair share of new properties. The targets for new housing in Harrow have already been exceeded and residents are not prepared to suffer any more.
The loss of green spaces for housing negatively affects the environment, losing the land's ability to capture new carbon. Wildlife and plant life already under stress, are displaced & loss of green spaces has a negative effect on communities. Harrow is no longer the green and pleasant borough it used to be, and we cannot spare any more green space for building housing. If you value your environment, the health of your children, our green spaces & associated flora & fauna, please sign this petition to preserve our neighbourhoods.
The latest piece of green field currently being threatened with development is the green sports field at the Old Lyonians site Pinner View in Headstone.
Once we know more details about what exactly is being proposed for the Old Lyonians site there will be a petition specific for this development.
The Ridgeway site has just been saved but had to go to appeal and the Pinner Road planning application was eventually withdrawn after great efforts by residents. Why should the people of Harrow be under constant threat from developers out to make money by taking away our right to green field trees, wildlife, and a place for our children to play and all generations to enjoy. Long time residents of Harrow had access to a green borough when they were children, and it is important today’s children have access to the green space that is left.
Please sign this petition to send a message to the developers, the Mayor of London, and the Government that the people of Harrow have lost enough green space and are not prepared to lose any more.
This petition to Harrow Council urges them to send a message to all developers that Harrow’s green spaces are no longer available to be built on.
STOP BUILDING ON OUR VALUABLE GREEN SPACES.
